OUTREACH
The Hillcrest congregation
supports many organizations. We invite congregation
members to help with their hands and hearts as we
struggle to create a better world for God's children.
We provide financial and physical help to VEAP and Bridging. We serve meals at Loaves and Fishes, and we give
significantly to Simpson Homeless shelters, Emma's Place for single parents, and to VEAP. The world is our parish.
Through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). we provide assistance during times of disaster, war and hunger.
Our outreach efforts reach around the world.
Diapers
The Mission Committee at HUMC collects used cotton t-shirts, which it recycles and sews into diapers for babies around the world.
Diapers have been sent to Honduras, Tanzania, and to the UMC Thiu Rancho Project in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The prayer shawl ministry has become a significant ministry of Hillcrest, as we reach out to
those who are going through difficult or stressful times. Shawls have been given to new moms and to individuals who are dealing
with cancer, are having traumatic surgery, or are in hospice care.
Methodist Hospital Outreach
At Hillcrest, we make over a thousand items each year to give to Methodist Hospital for use in their Neo-natal and Pediatric
units. Items include finger puppets, preemie hats, blankets, and quilts.
Thiu Rancho Project in Cochabamba, Bolivia
Hillcrest sponsors Gordon & Ardell Graner in their work at Thiu Rancho, where they provide tutoring and after school
activities, as well as teach pastoral care to lay pastors.
